About Our Matcha

All of our matcha is ceremonial-grade, milled from the highest quality Uji tencha (the shade grown tea leaves used for matcha). Our tencha is always grown without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilizers. This means it has even fewer artificial inputs than standard organic matcha.

About Single Cultivars

Many of these matchas are single cultivar, such as Asahi, Okumidori, and Samidori. This type of matcha is relatively rare in the ceremonial matcha world. Matcha available in both Japan and the West is usually a blend of cultivars.

While we love blended matcha - and make a few of our own - we are also fascinated by single cultivars. Drinking single cultivar ceremonial matcha is a fun way to appreciate the differences not only of each cultivar, but of terroir. Even the same cultivar from the same farmer will taste slightly different each year, which for us, helps keep matcha perpetually exciting!

About Our Process

All of our matcha is milled-to-order in small batches by us, here in Minnesota. This unrivaled freshness means you get the highest quality ceremonial grade matcha, with an incredibly complex flavor profile and remarkable smoothness. Milling the matcha ourselves also allows us to mill slowly and carefully, ensuring the finest powder - and creamiest texture - possible.
