The blend includes Yabukita, Saemidori, Okumidori, and Asanoka cultivars, and is grown in the Kirishima mountains at an elevation of around 200 meters (which, in the context of relatively flat Japan, is higher than usual).
The Tencha is certified organic and milled to-order by us here in Minneapolis. The result is delightfully well-balanced and smooth, with a strong aromatic floral and fruity nose and a sumptuous, umami-laden flavor.

About The Kagoshima Blend
This is our first foray into other tea growing regions within Japan. This tea comes from Kagoshima Prefecture, in the far South of Japan, and is made of a blend of 4 cultivers: Yabukita, Saemidori, Okumidori, and Asanoka.
It is remarkably well-balanced, smooth, and complex - with notes of tropical fruit and flowers along with a lingering umami that makes this matcha well-suited to both koicha (thick tea) and usucha (thin tea) preparations.
Origin
The tencha for this matcha comes from the Kirishima mountains in Kagoshima prefecture, at an elevation of roughly 200 meters. Additionally, all of the tea is farmed sustainably and is certified organic!
Milled-To-Order
As with all of our matcha, our Kagoshima Blend is milled-to-order by us in Minneapolis. This guarantees the highest percentage of aromatic compounds and antioxidants, as well as a smoother matcha.
